With verbs ending in consonant we double the last letter.

      e.g: To get   getting

      e.g: To put   putting

        uses :

We use the present continuous with normal verbs to express the idea that something is happening now, at this very moment. It can also be used to say that something is not happening now.

Example: -You are learning English now .

-They are not swimming at the moment .

                        -Are you sleeping?

The present continuous can also be used to talk about longer actions in progress now .

Example: -I'm studying to become a doctor .

-I'm reading a book by James Joyce .

We use also the present continuous with expressions like: Look and listen .

Example: -Look! Two policemen are chasing a thief .

                             -Listen! The baby is crying.
